KTP cricket club participating in Blacktown District Cricket Club Summer 2023, under Rooty Hill RSL becomes the grade 6 cricket champions. This would be the first Malayali team in Blacktown District Comp to become the premiers. Captain Shine Murali said that this win is the result sheer determination and team effort. The 40 over and 65 over games were played every Saturday afternoon which started early September 2022. The team looked like a men possessed from the first game onwards.
During the league games standout performances were Sachith Anand, Vishnu Manchady, Jobin Joy with 5 wickets haul in crunch games. Shine Murali scored a massive 168 in a game Vs Blacktown Workers Cricket Club . As openers Mahesh Panicker and Hari Menon gave steady start for most of the games. Abin Yohanan, Jerin Sebastian and Jithin Joseph propped up the middle order. Jithin George Ajeesh Balakrishnan and Ganesh S always played important innings when ever needed. This year young Vishnu Subhash made his club cricket debut and impressed everyone with his raw pace and well directed bouncers. Wicket Keeper Abin Yohanan stood as rock behind the stumps and snared 15 catches and effected 2 stumpings.
This was the fourth season this Malayali boys we’re playing club cricket. It’s heartening to see these die hard cricket fanatics find time to practice and play. All the players dedicated this win to the support of their family who allow them to wear the passion of cricket on their sleeves day in and day out.
Hopefully this win will encourage others to follow their passion to stay fit and happy.
